The Detroit Pistons were off on Saturday but there was some movement around them. Here’s a look at their 2020 NBA Draft odds, and more.

Without playing a game, the Detroit Pistons didn’t have their 2020 NBA Draft odds improve or worsen.

The Pistons remain seventh with the odds of obtaining a top-4 pick at 32%, and the No. 1 pick at 7.5%. Detroit (17-33) holds the league’s second-longest losing streak of five games. That’s tied with the Orlando Magic (21-28), who currently hold the East’s eighth playoff spot.

Detroit is 4.5 games out of Orlando’s spot but had a critical week in which it lost those five games, including a pair to the seventh-seeded Brooklyn Nets (21-27). But with the NBA’s trade deadline four days away, the Pistons are likely to be sellers, distancing themselves from the playoffs for a third time in five years.

Looking at Saturday’s games, the Warriors beat the Cavs as they draw nearer to the top pick with the lost. They’re tied with Atlanta, which lost to Dallas to stay even with Cleveland. Minnesota lost its league-worst 11th straight game. Charlotte also lost to San Antonio.

Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards won a second straight game as Bradley Beal is determined to lead them to a playoff berth. They scored a win at home against the Nets to improve to 17-31.

The Pistons are seven games out of the top pick. They’ll play a Sunday matinee when they host the Denver Nuggets, which opened the road trip with a marquee win over the NBA-leading Bucks.

Before turning the page to Sunday’s games, it’s time to simulate. We’ll simulate 10 times, resetting after each simulation, to peg where the Pistons would select. It isn’t perfect but it’s a good estimation.

After having an average draft position of 6.2 on Feb. 1, the Pistons averaged out at 8.2 on Feb. 2. The highest selection point was seventh overall and the lowest was ninth overall, consistently staying between those picks.

Given Tankathon’s latest mock draft, the Pistons would have a crack at point guards R.J. Hampton and Nico Mannion. Wings Tyrese Maxey, Jaden McDaniels, Obi Toppin and Isaac Okoro would all be in play. Athletic big man Onyeka Okongwu would be on the board if the Pistons drafted seventh.

Sunday is an unusually light slate of games for the NBA. Of course, it’s Super Bowl Sunday. The Pistons play the Nuggets in one of the day’s four games. Only two have implications that will impact The Daily Tank.

The Bulls (19-32), who sit 1.5 games behind the Pistons in the Tankathon standings, visit Toronto (35-14), which just handled the Pistons at Little Caesars Arena.

The other contests pits New Orleans (20-29) against Houston (30-18). It’s an important game for the Rockets, who are in the middle of the Western Conference standings. Meanwhile the Pelicans are surging since Zion Williamson‘s debut, winning three straight games and are 6-4 over their last 10.

It’s likely the Pistons improve their spot in the Tankathon standings. With a loss, they could draw even with the Hornets and tie for the sixth-worst record in the NBA.
