The production of the rookie

As it was just mentioned, Sekou finally got some shine again today. After spending the last few weeks in a downward spiral, and being the subject of a vast dichotomy within the fan base on how exactly he should be utilized, he was able to showcase his skills again.

On back to back possessions he drew and-one opportunities, and even received a pass from Andre Drummond coming off of a pick and roll, and proceeded to knock down a three-pointer.

Sekou was involved on offense today, and at the end of the day that’s what the issue has been with fans. It seems like he’s constantly left out but, there’s reasons for that.

light. Also. A look back at the week that ended the Pistons season

In the first quarter after securing a rebound, he went coast to coast with the ball and finished at the rim through heavy contact. Whenever he plays, he shows us something that gets us excited for the future.

While he at times will still find himself out of position on offense, his defensive prowess is unbelievable for a 19-year old. He’s already establishing himself has one of Detroit’s best on-ball defenders.

He has the ability to shift the momentum of a game if he’s given the opportunity. That aforementioned coast to coast drive to the basket came during Detroit’s surge after trailing 31-10. They proceeded to go on a 66-36 run.
