The Detroit Pistons have now won their last six match ups against the Phoenix Suns and two of their last three games following tonight’s win.

Coming into tonight’s game, the Detroit Pistons had won their last five match ups against the Phoenix Suns, each win coming by double digits. Add another one to the list.

Both teams got off to a hot start. Similar to the Pistons battles with the Brooklyn Nets, a key match up to watch was at the center position. Andre Drummond versus Deandre Ayton.

Drummond was doing an absolutely tremendous job utilizing his size in the low post, he opened the game making 7 of his first 8 shots, scoring 14 points and securing 6 rebounds.

Ayton was just as explosive. His ability to play with his back to the basket was giving Detroit fits. He was doing a remarkable job of securing a pass and immediately putting up a hook shot. It was lightning quick. He ended the quarter with 11 points on 71 percent shooting.

Even Christian Wood provided an immediate spark off of the bench for Detroit, scoring 5 quick points in as many minutes. Both he and Drummond were able to slow Ayton down defensively, with Wood even forcing a steal.

Scoring 38 points on 56 percent shooting, the Pistons set themselves up for a successful night. They also assisted on 12 of their 16 made baskets. The ball movement and the spacing was as good as it’s been all season.

Through the first half, the Pistons held a 21-3 advantage in bench points.
