Weaknesses

Despite the fact that Avdija has the build to cover multiple positions, he still has much work to do defensively. His 6-9 wingspan isn’t the greatest, which can be a major liability when it comes to defending many of the long players in the league today.

Like most young players, Avdija’s decision-making has some space to be worked on. While he does have a great basketball IQ, he sometimes makes bad decisions.

On offense, there are a few worries that turn into a reoccurring issue. To start with, he does not possess an elite first step, which can degrade him. Avdija is also not the greatest athlete and in the NBA, most players today have an elite athletic ability.

The most worrying part of his game though is his free-throw shooting. Throughout all of the games Avdija has played in the year, he is shooting 52% from the charity stripe.

But the most concerning component of Avdija’s scouting report is the lack of tape on him. Almost every other major draft prospect is either playing in the NCAA or was a top high school recruit who decided to play overseas. But for Avdija, he has only been seen playing against legitimate competition in small doses. Taking Avdija can be a major risk for teams, especially after the last Maccabi Tel Aviv prospect, Dragan Bender, did not pan out the way the Phoenix Suns were hoping.
