Detroit Pistons 2020 NBA Draft proifle: Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Deni Avdija
By Ari Eizen
Does he fit with the Pistons Core?
Avdija is only 19 years old — the same as Pistons rookie Sekou Doumbouya. Drummond is no longer on the team and it is not farfetched for Griffin to be in a different jersey within the next year. That being said, the Pistons have basically entered into a rebuild and adding a player like Avdija to the core with Kennard and Doumbouya, could be the right choice for the Pistons if they go this route.

Having three young players to build around can help give coach Dwane Casey and senior advisor Ed Stefanski a clearer vision on the future of the franchise. Add players like Bruce Brown and Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk into the equation, and the Pistons may be building a team that can compete now and still has a future to build on.
Most teams like to take the safe route when it comes to using a high lottery draft pick. However, Avdija has the potential to be a superstar. The league has been taken over by foreign players, such as Giannis Antetokounmpo and Luka Doncic.
Avdija could be next in line, and for the Pistons to have the opportunity to take a player with this high of potential in the middle of the lottery could be a franchise-altering move. Realistically, the Pistons have not been relevant for nine years and counting, Deni can help end the misery that the Pistons and their fans have endured during that time.
