Toppin’s strengths
Standing at six-foot-nine, Toppin has a very strong build which he uses to his advantage in all aspects of his game. Given his size and strength, Toppin tends to cause issues for defenders around the rim and can score at ease when near the basket.
But his size helps him on all levels of the court from the inside out. In some ways, his size has allowed him to expand his game in many ways. To start with, his post-game is superb which allows him to dominate the paint.
Since he is so strong, he can absorb contact and has the ability to go through defenders in order to get to the basket.
He also has the ability to create his own shot outside of the paint. While he has the ball one of his go-to moves is his step-back shot which allows him to have more space to get his shot off. While coming off the ball, Toppin can shoot very well off of the pass.
This year, Toppin is currently shooting 63% from the field while averaging just under 20 at 19.7 points per game.
For someone who is six-foot-nine and weighing in at 220 points, Obi Toppin has some freak athletic skills. As mentioned earlier, Toppin can easily dominate around the rim and one of the ways he does so is his quickness.
For a power forward, Toppin has the ability to explode on offense and drive to the rim with ease due to the combination of his size and explosiveness. But, what also makes him unique is his ability to play above the rim. On any given play, he has the ability to get open and thrown down any alley-oop.
Another skill that should be mentioned when talking about Toppin is his court vision and passing ability. For a big man, he has the skill to hit his teammate from afar and can see the court which helps him make the right decision.
