The Detroit Pistons have reached an agreement to buyout Reggie Jackson
The Detroit Pistons have officially reached an agreement with Reggie Jackson on a contract buyout, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
This doesn’t come as too much of a shock, as rumors started swirling a week ago about the possibility that the Detroit Pistons could end up buying out Reggie Jackson.
However, there’s still a lingering disappointment that during his time in Detroit, he wasn’t able to help the Pistons achieve much, having made the playoffs twice and failing to win a single game.
Jackson was often the subject of misguided criticism from fans due to the multitude of injuries that he suffered, including a back injury that sidelined him for three months to open this season.
His five-year tenure in Detroit has officially come to an end. Regardless of how we arrived to this point, by the time the season ended his time would have likely been up. The Pistons were not expected to re-sign him this summer.

So whether it was through the virtue of trade or, like we saw today, a buyout, their paths were always going to go in separate directions.
This amicable decision benefits all parties involved. Detroit will have an opportunity to play some of their younger talents more often, like Jordan Bone, or even play Bruce Brown at the point guard some more.
While it remains possible that the Pistons will roll the dice and ride out the season playing Derrick Rose and Brandon Knight, the roster spot that has been freed up could likely go to Bone.
The Clippers get an established veteran to bolster the point guard position, and a lethal scoring option in pick and rolls. Jackson will aid the Clippers in their hunt for a championship.
Jackson was rather divisive during his time in a Pistons uniform, but he proved at times that he was an exceptional talent, and he will be dearly missed by the fans.
We wish him the best, and hope he’s able to land that coveted championship.
