#10 Louisville at #22 Virginia 4:00 pm EST on ESPN (Saturday)

In the first game of an ACC doubleheader on ESPN, the Virginia Cavaliers host the Louisville Cardinals. Virginia has gotten hot at the right time, winning their last seven games and ten of their last 11.

The only loss in that stretch was to Louisville, 80-73. Virginia has won those games by 1, 2, 13, 3, 3, 2, and 2 points. We all know of Virginia’s notoriously slow pace and defense first mindset, so this should be a low scoring affair. Louisville is coming in 3-3 in their last six losing all three games on the road, and with this game being on the road could they lose another?

Louisville is led by junior small forward Jordan Nwora. A strange player due to his unorthodox play style, he’s averaging 18 points, 7.6 points, and 1.3 assists per game. Nwora is the catalyst for Louisville, averaging 19.5 points in wins and 12 points in losses.

He’s averaging 8 points in losses excluding his 32-point performance in a loss to Florida State. If you look at the player scoring, Nwora has 18 points per game, and then the next four players are averaging 9.4-8.7 points per game, meaning Louisville has some depth.

In the previous meeting, Jordan scored 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds on 50 percent shooting from three point and the field overall and 100 percent from the free throw line.

Jordan Nwora is expected to be an early second round pick meaning if there’s a good run for Louisville, Nwora could rise up the mock drafts and slide into the end first round, as eyes are always on in March.

Virginia, who people forget are the defending national champions, are one of the hottest teams in the country.

There are four main players for Virginia, Mamadi Diakite averages 13.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, Kihei Clark averages 10.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 5.9 assists, Braxton Key, 10 points and 7.4 rebounds, and finally Jay Huff averages 8,4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2 blocks.

As a team, the Cavaliers only score roughly 60 points per game so those four score a majority of the team’s points. In their game against the Duke Blue Devils, Jay Huff had one of the most dominant performances I’ve ever watched, scoring 15 points, having 9 rebounds and 10(!) blocks.

None of the Virginia players are on the major mock drafts, but last season Ty Jerome and Kyle Guy weren’t supposed to be drafted for a while and they both were going in the first and second rounds respectively.
