As we inch closer to the NBA Draft, is Cole Anthony from North Carolina someone that Detroit Pistons fans should be watching?
As the NBA season continues, the Detroit Pistons season is getting more difficult to watch on all fronts. Despite an unsuccessful first half of the season, the Pistons were full of players that Pistons fans knew and wanted to watch.
Andre Drummond was a double-double machine, Blake Griffin was coming off his best season, and Luke Kennard was finally starting to break out of his shell.
Drummond is now a member of the Cavs, Blake has been out for the season since December 28th and Kennard has not played since December 21st.
Even players like Reggie Jackson and Markieff Morris, who were both vital players in the Pistons rotation this year are gone, playing for the Clippers and Lakers respectively. Now, with Derrick Rose just injuring his ankle, we won’t be seeing him for at least two more weeks.
The Pistons roster is now full of players that make this team hard to watch at times. Christian Wood, Svi Mykhailiuk, Bruce Brown, and Sekou Doumbouya are all young
Players who are expected to be around for the future, but outside of them, the Pistons are comprised of expiring contracts and 10-day contract players.
Luckily, the Pistons fans have at least one thing to look forward to as the teams tank-a-thon continues: The NBA draft. The sooner the season comes to an end, the quicker the NBA draft arrives.
The Pistons are currently 20-44 and hold the sixth-worst record in the NBA. The Pistons are in a position to select a player that can alter the future of the franchise and help rejuvenate Detroit basketball.
The draft is a vital way for the Pistons to grow their team. Not many top-tier free agents sign in Detroit, so the draft is the best way to find a star to build around and keep around for a long time.
One player who has been on top of the draft board since the beginning of the season is UNC point guard, Cole Anthony. Anthony has been on teams radars for a while, being the No. 4 prospect in the 2019 high school recruiting class.
