Golden State Warriors

In what became a rather unfortunate turn of events not just for fans of the Warriors, but fans of basketball in general, Golden State was relegated into an off year this season due to the injuries that they’ve suffered.

With Klay Thompson missing the entirety of the season, Stephen Curry missing a large majority of it, Draymond Green being in and out of the lineup, and D’Angelo Russell missing some time before his departure, things went off the rails quick for the Warriors this season.

So as it happens, with the team preforming as poorly as they have been, they’re looking at a what will likely be a top selection in this upcoming draft.

Many have speculated that if they’re able to make a top-two or possibly even a top-three selection, they’ll likely wind up picking James Wiseman, who formerly played for the Memphis Tigers. This would round out their rotation and help them return to form.

A lineup of Curry, Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Green, and Wiseman would certainly be quite the spectacle, and it would likely propel the Warriors back into the team that we’ve known in years passed.

Alternatively if they miss out on Wiseman, Golden State will look to bolster their frontcourt through free agency.

In what will be a rather lackluster free agent class, there’s a chance that they could view Wood as a cost efficient option that could serve as a floor spacing rim runner on what will presumably be another title contending team.

Also. An unlikely trade candidate that could benefit the Pistons. light

The Warriors don’t need an All-Star show stopper at center in order to dominate. They never needed DeMarcus Cousins, they showed that they were able to get by with Kevon Looney, and they preformed well with Andrew Bogut.

It’s important to note that the Warriors won’t have a ton of money to play around with this summer. However, with a player like Wood who’s still establishing himself in the league, the prospect of winning a championship could trump a substantial pay day and he could very well take a pay cut.

Even if they were to draft Wiseman, they could still sign Wood as a backup power forward. Adding his length to their second unit would be dangerous. In almost every scenario, Golden State could be a great fit for him.
