Tre Jones’ weaknesses

One of the biggest faults in Jones’ game is his overall shooting. While the strengths section went in-depth into why he was one of the best passers and facilitators in the draft, his lack of ability to score is a very worrisome thing.

This year, Jones shot 42.3% from the field, which is very low and not a good look. But it gets even worse for Jones, as he shoots an even worse 31.3% from beyond the arc.

There were many times throughout the season where it seemed that he was scared to shoot the ball. His lack of shooting skills also leads to a few of the other reasons for why Jones dropped to second-round draft talent.

To start with, Jones does not have the greatest size. Jones is six-foot-two, which is small for point guards today. His lack of size also creates difficulty for him to drive to the paint and score near the rim.

He also lacks an aggressive side of his game which helps make it even more difficult for him to score. His lack of scoring on the college level seems to mean that he will never be a player who will score at a high level in the NBA.

Also, Jones is not an elite athlete who can move around swiftly and create his own shot or space.

Since he is undersized, he may have some issues guarding some of the more aggressive point guards in the NBA. It won’t help that he also is a very skinny player and will need to put on a considerable amount of weight to be able to clash with some of the point guards in the NBA.
