Svi Mykhailiuk

As the season moved along, Svi Mykahiliuk wound up being one of the players that fans became most excited about. He was emerging as a scorer not just along the perimeter, but going to the rim as well.

With all of the injuries that the Pistons endured throughout the entirety of the year, Svi was pretty much forced into the role that he currently has. With so many playmakers and shooters going down, he was asked to step up, and he did.

Heading into the All-Star break he was shooting 42.5 percent from three-point range, and some had said that he should’ve been given an invitation to the NBA’s Three-Point Contest.

While he didn’t get to participate in that, he did get to participate in the Rising Stars Challenge.

Since the break, he’s had games where he’s been his usual self, but he’s frequently been going cold.

While he’s adding a respectable 9.6 points per game to the team, he’s only shooting 33 percent from the field and from distance. While those aren’t outlandishly bad by any means, they don’t meet the standard that he’s created for himself.

His three-point shot hasn’t been falling with the regularity that we’re used to, his drives to the basket aren’t as sharp as they’d previously been, and he’s been having trouble staying with his man on defense.

Svi could emerge as a legitimate scoring option for the Pistons in the future. He could become a reliable weapon off of the bench, and he made significant progress this season.

It’s only his second year in the NBA, so stretches like this are expected. Here’s to hoping he can turn it around soon.
