Point guard. Minnesota Timberwolves. Tyrese Haliburton . 5. player. 86.

The Timberwolves are looking to kick off a new era with the pairing of D’Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns. They’re hoping to return to any sort of formidable basketball, and Tyrese Haliburton could help them get there.

He’s someone who can see an opening develop on the floor seconds before it actually happens, and has shown he’s a capable playmaker.

Minnesota may opt to select a pass-first point guard in order to maximize the output of both Russell and Towns. Haliburton would be ideal for them in this scenario, as that is often his mindset.

However, it’s also one of his flaws, as he’s show to sometimes be too tentative to shoot the ball. He’s got a high release on his jumper that along the perimeter can often be difficult to defend. This season he shot 50.4 percent from the field, and 41.9 percent from three.

Haliburton’s range can feel limitless at times.

He could prove to be an elite threat in pick and rolls next to Towns, and his remarkable court vision allows him to make nearly any pass that he wants to.

The high IQ that he plays with on defense combined with his absurd length allows him to interrupt passing lanes and frustrate defenders.
