With the NBA season on hold, resorting to NBA 2K20 to fulfill you basketball needs is the way to go! Let’s use it to predict the Detroit Pistons’ rookie’s future.

Sekou Doumbouya‘s rookie season with the Detroit Pistons was off to a good start when he made his first official start. The weeks that followed showed us that he could fulfill the expectations that were bestowed upon him coming into the season.

However he eventually hit a wall on both ends of the floor and his production came to a halt. His shot wasn’t as refined along the perimeter, he was having trouble finishing at the rim, and his defensive abilities slipped at times.

It’s not too much of a concern, given that he’s the youngest player in the NBA at just 19-years old. No one was expecting him to be a top scoring option for the Pistons on day one.

Moving forward he has a lot that he’s going to be able to work on in order to maximize his potential. The biggest question moving forward with Sekou is “how good can he really be?”

This is where NBA 2K20 can be a fun and semi-useful tool.

Before I began the simulation, the only setting that I adjusted was turning injuries off. It wouldn’t really be fun if he spent an entire year out with a knee injury, so we’re taking those out of the equation.

After simulating the entire 2019-2020 season where he was playing 20 minutes per game, he ended the season averaging 5.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. Nothing out of the ordinary from what we actually saw from him this year.

On to the future!
