Does Pritchard fit with the Pistons future?

The Pistons are currently in a position that not many teams are in right now, with many questions unanswered. There are fans questioning whether head coach Dwane Casey is the right man to conduct the rebuild.

Wood’s recent rise from the last man to make the roster to a sought after free agent could make resigning Wood a costly move for the Pistons. While his stats have been phenomenal since the Drummond trade, it would be unfair for people to immediately assume that he can do that for multiple seasons.

Additionally, the Pistons will also be bringing in a top prospect this summer via a projected top-five pick in the first round. As the first PistonPowered mock draft projected, Detroit may choose to select a point guard like LaMelo Ball with that pick, which would shore up the point guard need.

However, even if the Pistons select to go another route with that pick, I don’t see as much appeal in Pritchard as others do.

As previously mentioned in the weakness section, there is not much upside for Pritchard in terms of his growth and maturity. His stats in college have been fantastic and he will always be remembered as a great college basketball player.

Going with someone like Tre Jones, if available in the second round, would be a better move for the Pistons.

Pritchard could be a player to help round out the bench of a team ready to make a deep playoff run, but the Pistons are nowhere near that level.
