NBA Player Comparison: Bogdan Bogdanovic

If you were looking for a Luka Dončić comparison here, apologies for the disappointment.

Avdija may be the most touted international prospect in this years’ draft and the Pistons have several needs. They may just go with the best player available approach as they did last year when Sekou Doumbouya fell to them at the 15th pick.

Avdija started his professional career in 2017 with Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel at age 16 and became the youngest player to ever play for the club. While he may not have the stats to project his immediate worth in the NBA (4.0 points and 14.3 minutes per game), he has shown flashes of greatness.

Unlike Avdija, Bogdanović did not enter the NBA until he was 25, but has since made an immediate impact for Sacramento.

Both players possess sneaky athleticism, flashy playmaking ability for their size and can run in the transition on the wing or as a distributor.

Furthermore, both have an extremely smooth outside jump shot with the ability to shoot off the dribble. Bogdanović is a solid 37.0 percent shooter for his career from 3 point range.

Avdija definitely has the ability to reach that clip, but he’ll need to become a more consistent shooter from the free throw line, only shooting 55.6 percent last season.

While certainly a polarizing option, The Pistons’ could take a chance on Avdija who has one of the highest ceilings in this years draft class.
