Sekou’s season grade: C+

At the end of the day, the main thing that puts Sekou at a C+ instead of a flat C was the two week stretch that he had in January.

That small sample size of success was a good indicator of what he could be in Detroit. A solid top-three scoring option and with reliability on both ends of the floor.

The Pistons being as crippled by injuries as they were ended up being a blessing in disguise for multiple reasons, and Sekou’s slight emergence is one of them. Had the team been healthy all year, he may have never gotten his chance to shine.

After hitting his season peak and scoring a career high 24 points against the Boston Celtics, his production went down hill.

Because of the various circumstances that led to this slip, a C+ grade balances everything out. We know that he has potential to help the Pistons down the road, but he’s still far from being a finished product.

His overall game and how he’s utilized needs to be re-worked a bit, and given the NBA’s current uncertainty as to when basketball will actually resume, he’ll have plenty of time to work.
