Detroit Pistons 2019-2020 player grade: Bruce Brown
What Brown didn’t do so well
The same things that make Brown a solid player are the same things that can be his faults.
For example, he did develop a relatively strong game at the rim this season but he often gets tunnel vision and won’t pass out of certain situations that he finds himself in.
He can finish through contact, but what often happens is he gets the ball over the defender without any touch and it just bounces off of the rim. He’s been showing us that he’s capable of hitting floaters in the lane (similar to Reggie Jackson‘s) but they don’t quite fall with consistency yet.

What it all comes down to is pretty simple. Seeing him produce concrete evidence that he’s developing his offensive game is a tremendous sign. It’s exactly what the Pistons need him to do.
However, the fact remains that he’s seldom going to be a top two scorer on the floor for Detroit at any given time.
No that’s not necessarily supposed to be his role, however his facilitating skills only get you so far when he’s surrounded by people who also can’t score. Adding that scoring consistency would open up a new element of his game that they desperately need.
His corner three-point shooting was where he was at his best and luckily that’s where a majority of his volume came from.
He shot just 23.5 percent from three on shots that weren’t from either corner.
