6)Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings have been living at the bottom of the western conference ever since the mid-2000s and have not been a top team since the Mike Bibby–Chris Webber–Peja Stojakovic days.
The roster they currently have is full of young players with high potential. De’Aaron Fox is one of the most electrifying players in the NBA, Marvin Bagely did not play much this year but is trending in the right direction, and Buddy Hield is still trying to figure out where he’s most useful.
However, while there are many talented players on the roster right now, Kent Bazemore and Bojan Bogdanovic both are free agents after the conclusion of this season and Fox and Nemanja Bjelica follow up after the 2020-2021 season.
Keeping all of these important role players is going to be hard for the Kings since they do not have the most cap space over the next few years.
5) Minnesota Timberwolves
Despite the fact that the Minnesota Timberwolves currently have two young stars in D’Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns, there is almost nothing else attractable with this franchise.
Malik Beasly was a nice addition at the trade deadline, but outside of that, their assets are not some of the best to have. James Johnson and Evan Turner are both being overpaid, but their contracts will be expiring in 2021 and 2020 respectively.
However, what makes them more enticing than the other teams lower on this list is the fact that they have both Towns and Russell can be a good sign for the future.
Suns guard Devin Booker has expressed in the past that he wants to team up with that duo and bringing Booker into the fold can help the Timberwolves claw their way back into relevancy, even in the crowded western conference.
