4) Charlotte Hornets

After the departure of franchise player Kemba Walker last summer, the Charlotte Hornets decided to go full rebuild and their roster completely shows for it. PJ Washington had a solid rookie year and Devonte’ Graham was one of the breakout players of the season.

However, when you’re on a team that has the roster that the Hornets were playing with, someone has to score and Graham took full advantage of that and showed his place in the league.

This roster lacks significant talent and additionally, their payroll is a mess. Nic Batum is still cashing in from the 2015 offseason and Bismack Biyombo is not a major contributor in any way.

The two of them combined are costing the team $42 million per year. The only way a team like the Hornets are going to grow is through the draft and signing role players. They struggled to keep Walker around, now which young player is going the be next to leave?

3) Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns have been a team that many fans have expected to make the leap out of the depths of the western conference for the few seasons. But every time there is some hope or a spark that can lead to a fire, it gets snuffed out one way or another.

It’s a shame that many of the prime years of Devin Booker are being wasted in Phoenix where the team has just not been able to pull it together.

With the being said, I think the Phoenix Suns are finally heading in the right direction. Booker is locked up until 2024 and the mixture of young talent and experienced veterans.

Outside of his 25 game suspension at the beginning of the season, DeAndre Ayton was playing incredibly, and even when he was out ex-Pistons Aron Baynes was playing very well in his place.

Kelly Oubre Jr and Dario Saric are both younger players that can be kept around without having to break the bank and Ricky Rubio is a perfect point guard to help move the ball around to all the scorers the team has.

There is just one major issue with the franchise which puts them low on the list, but I will get to that later on.
