2)New York Knicks

There is an alternate reality, where the New York Knicks could have Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Zion Williamson.

Durant and Irving both opted to go to Brooklyn instead of playing their home games at The Garden and the Knicks missed out on the lottery and watching the Pelicans cash in on Zion.

Now the Knicks have a roster full of overpaid players such as Julius Randle and Maurice Harkless and lottery pick burn-outs like Dennis Smith Jr and Frank Ntilikina.

Their bright spot, though, is RJ Barrett. I’m a big believer in Barrett and think he will be something special once he matures and grows up.

He needs to improve his shot selection, but if he does that he can be the person to change the recent struggles that have turned the Knicks into a laughing stock in the NBA. Being in New York can always help the team turn it around, but there is just one major roadblock in the way, as you will see later on.

1) Cleveland Cavaliers

Throughout the Cleveland Cavaliers history, the team has not had any success outside of the LeBron years. In fact, the Cavs have not made the playoffs since 1998 when someone by the name of LeBron James was not of the roster.

This past year, the team relieved head coach John Beilein of his duties after only half a season with the team. Their current situation does not get any better.

As of now, they already have 10 people signed next year for around for $107.8 million, and with Adrian Wojnarowski reporting that the 2020-2021 salary cap is projected to be at $115 million the Cavs do not have much space to move as of now.

Keep in mind that this includes players such as Kevin Love, who can definitely be traded this offseason, and Andre Drummond who has a player option for the upcoming season.

Their roster also leaves a lot to be desired. Kevin Love could be traded, but even if he is not he does not fit on a roster of young players on a rebuilding franchise.

Assuming Andre Drummond stays for at least one more year, it feels like the team will be trying to go in two different directions at once, which as we have seen from the beginning of their season, they need to commit to one way.

Personally, I am not the biggest fan of the Garland-Sexton backcourt. However, I can see one of them staying around to be the point guard of the future. Larry Nance Jr and Matthew Dellavedova are both being overpaid, but Cedi Osman has been a very good role player over the past few years.

There is not much upside to this franchise at the moment, and the team does have neither the top young players nor the money that will help the team rebuild any time soon.
