Wood’s player grade: A

It should go without say that down the stretch this season, Wood was the main draw for Pistons fans. If you were tuning in it was, if nothing else, to witness the sheer dominance that we was displaying.

Maybe we as fans have blown it slightly out of proportion, but he was really fun to watch. His final grade is somewhere between and ‘A-‘ and an ‘A’, but for the story of success alone, the latter has to be the choice here.

More from PistonPowered

The quintessential embodiment of zero to hero. Not a hero in the sense that the Pistons won any meaningful basketball games, because they didn’t, but in the regard that he gave fans something to look forward to.

Not just on a nightly basis, but even looking towards the future it’s reassuring to know that although he may not be part of the long term plan, he’ll likely still be here for a few seasons. His work ethic is through the roof and embodies everything that Pistons fans love.

Assuming Detroit is able to re-sign him this season (they’ll have the money to do it, it’s just a matter of getting out-bid) then he’ll surely be an early pick for the Most Improved Player award.

Wood brings a level of energy and excitement to the team that they desperately need, and that we as fans need as well.
