Heading into the 2020-2021 NBA season the Detroit Pistons will utilize their infusion of youth to help jump start their rebuild.

It’s currently unclear as to when basketball will return. The COVID-19 pandemic is still in full swing and with little sign of stopping anytime soon, the entire NBA season may be forced to shut down. This is sub-optimal for a multitude of reasons, but ultimately doesn’t necessarily impact the Detroit Pistons who were far from a playoff spot.

If the season does resume later this summer, it could mean that the 2020-2021 season will be pushed back to a December start, effectively changing the landscape of the traditional league schedule.

Whatever the case may be, we won’t see the Pistons play until next season. When that point finally arrives fans can expect to see their rebuild pick up right where it left off, but with a few new faces.

Certain players are going to be asked to take on roles that in previous years they weren’t expected to, and we saw that happen this season with Svi Mykhailiuk.

We’ll also see the return of players like Blake Griffin, Derrick Rose, and Luke Kennard, who when all healthy may cause an issue for Detroit in that the team becomes slightly too good and may stumble into a weaker eastern conference playoff spot.

Expectations will be low, which will allow the Pistons to play as much lineup roulette as they want in order to maximize the potential of their youth.

Who will be asked to step up?
