Cole Anthony may have one of the highest motors of any point guard in this entire class. One of the issues with his season at North Carolina was that he was consistently asked to make a play with the ball due to the lack of talent surrounding him.
This lead to him developing a routine habit of poor shot selection, and he wasn’t able to properly display how great he is as a finisher because teams were always able to collapse on him. His AAU days better showcased the scorer he can really be at the rim.
Anthony sort of morphed into a “shoot first” guard, and if he’s to be rafted by the Suns he’ll need to develop better court vision in order to better compliment Deandre Ayton and Devin Booker.
He sees the floor well enough, but he’s seldom making the passes that LaMelo Ball, Tyrese Haliburton, or Killian Hayes are making. He’s decent, but not great.
For Anthony to thrive at the next level he’ll need to do a better job of maintaining awareness in the moment. He’s sometimes found himself in situations where he’d be better off passing out of the predicament he’s found himself in, but takes the shot instead.
Defensively however, he’s sound enough to make a noticeable impact on a struggling Phoenix team.
