Anthony Edwards . 1. player. 86. . SG . Minnesota Timberwolves

If any player is to be considered the consensus number one overall pick this year, it’s likely going to be Anthony Edwards. Minnesota would be put in prime position to land one of the better scorers from this class, and he could add an immediate punch alongside D’Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns.

Edwards is a great space creator and has no trouble getting the ball up. While it’s sometimes to a fault, his ability to create without the need of others can be pretty entertaining to watch, and would make for a good draw for Timberwolves fans.

He can go downhill quickly, and while he’s not yet an elite finisher, within a few years he could make great strides. He’s currently solid enough at the rim to make a decent impact with Minnesota’s offense.

One with Edwards is that he’s struggled with facilitating in the last year. He too often makes poor pick and roll reads, and settles for jump shots instead of passing away.

However, alongside Towns he’ll have an elite big man that can help transcend his passing abilities.

A reoccuring theme with some of the point guards in this draft is the lack of help defense. We’ve seen glimpses of greatness from Edward’s on-ball defensive abilities, but he’s too often lackadaisical when he’s off the ball.

Despite his flaws, he’s a tremendous offensive talent and is one of the most NBA ready players that we have going into the draft. Minnesota would have a few choices here, but Edwards may be too good to pass up.
