156. . SF/PF . Cleveland Cavaliers. Deni Avdija. 4. player

The Cleveland Cavaliers find themselves in a really challenging position. With a large majority of people saying that they need to “pick one” and move forward with either Collin Sexton or Darius Garland, it’d be slightly surprising to see them select a guard.

On the other hand, with the excess of big men that they have with Larry Nance Jr, Kevin Love, and Andre Drummond, they would likely pass on James Wiseman as well. Unfortunately, they’re going to have to bite the bullet and make a difficult decision.

Deni Avdija is quick forward who uses his body incredibly well around the rim. He hasn’t quite developed a consistent jump shot yet, but if he’s able to work outside of the paint more frequently the he could become a legitimate weapon.

He’s a solid passer, defender, and scorer. All three things, the Cavs desperately need. Not a single player in the entire draft takes advantages of more offensive switches than Avdija does, attacking a mismatch the second that it becomes available.

There’s nothing flashy about his game, he’s simple, and he’s effective. He’s also a pretty decent threat with the ball in his hands in transition, his ability to power his way to the rim or even defer to someone else with a quick pass leaves defenses guessing.

Avdija feels like someone who’s genuinely ready to play at the next level.
