#3 Blake’s revenge against the Clippers

In the summer of 2017, there were rumors that Griffin may sign a max contract with the Suns. However, after a lengthy attempt and fake jersey retirement ceremony, the Clippers were able to re-sign him on a five year contract worth $173 million.

Fast forward about seven months, and they traded him to Detroit. The business side of the NBA has had a longstanding reputation of being cold and unforgiving. Unfortunately for Blake, in a move that absolutely no one saw coming, he experienced this first hand.

So on a short list of “games that we’d really like to see”, his first match up on the road against the Clippers was at the very top. However, fans would have to wait until the following season to witness it.

When that date finally rolled around, he didn’t disappoint.

I won’t go into specific details about what occurred before tip-off, but Griffin may or may not (but didn’t) blatantly avoid Steve Ballmer.

Also. The biggest issue with the Pistons young core. light

Whatever malice he held towards the Clippers was finally about to be unleashed, and as soon as the game began, it was unleashed. He opened the game by knocking down a three-pointer, and went on to knock down four more as the game progressed.

As for the aforementioned thought that the Pistons finally had someone that could draw contact around the rim? Griffin made 13 of his 14 shots at the line that night. He was using his size to his advantage on every take.

His footwork was tremendous that night. His jumpshot faded in the second half, but he made up for it with every other aspect of his game being of the charts. Halfway through the second quarter he had already totaled 22 points on 7 of 9 shooting, with 3 three-pointers made.

Griffin finished with 44 points and 5 assists, and made it clear that he was a Detroit Piston now.
