NBA Comparisons for 3 more Detroit Pistons Draft Targets
Tyrese Haliburton
NBA Player Comparison: Dejounte Murray
If the Pistons miss out on LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards, they should do their best not to pass on Haliburton.
The sophomore from Iowa State put together an impressive campaign, averaging 15.2 points, 6.5 assists, and 5.9 rebounds per game this season before missing time due to a fractured wrist.
Haliburton has the ideal size and length for an NBA wing, but his skillset says point guard. A tall, lanky athlete, he showed the ability to play well in the half court and transition.

While his shooting form is unusual, Halliburton shot an impressive 41.9 percent from three on 5.6 shot attempts per game. His game fits the modern NBA and filling out his frame will only add more potential.
Haliburton’s size and athleticism puts him in the same mold as the Spurs’ Dejounte Murray. While Murray has had his share of injuries since entering the league, he’s shown flashes of being a franchise cornerstone.
Murray took a leap last year with San Antonio, improving in almost every statistical category while only playing a few more minutes per game (24.9). Both players are very feisty on defense.
Halliburton plays with incredible energy on both ends, averaging 2.5 steals per game last season. Murray came off his best defensive year yet, averaging 1.7 steals per game.
It might not be the most popular pick amongst this years point guard crop, but the Pistons shouldn’t overthink this one. Halliburton is a player and could fill the shoes as the floor general of the future.
