The hard way

The 76ers are desperate to add a playmaking guard and need to add shooting to help a team loaded with post-players.

The Sixers would salivate over Luke Kennard but Stefanski should immediately tell them that is a deal breaker.

But the Pistons’ top two leaders in three-point shooting percentage, Svi Mykhailiuk (at a sizzling 40.4 percent) and Tony Snell, could be made available.

Mykhailiuk and Snell make just a combined $14 million next year, so more salary needs to be added.

The Sixers would probably be interested in Derrick Rose as they have almost no one who can create their own shot. Rose has been a great addition to the Pistons as he’s rejuvenated his career after suffering a myriad of injuries.

In a perfect world, Rose is not a player you prefer to trade, so Stefanski can propose an alternative: Langston Galloway.

A free agent whom the Pistons would have to arrange a sign-and-trade to make it work. Galloway went to Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, so there is a local connection. Galloway had the same three-point shooting percentage as Kennard this past season (39.9 percent) so the Sixers add another shooter.

A contract offer to Galloway for $10 million should get his signature and that would balance the salaries for a trade.

No just giving away a first-rounder, this time, a 2020 pick swap (Philly gets No. 7 while Pistons move to No. 21) and Detroit throw’s in a 2021 second-round pick to finish the deal.

Proposed trade:

With Embiid in the middle, Luke Kennard would have a much easier time getting open, witness how much his presence helped legendary sniper JJ Reddick the two years they were together in Philly..

Detroit’s defense immediately improves and, if both are healthy (a BIG if given their respective history), if Griffin is still around he and would Embiid would make a scary pairing for opponents to deal with.

Trading for Embiid would be a bold move by the Pistons, but one worth taking.

How the Detroit Pistons could land three more draft picks this year. dark. Next
