Many possibilities for Detroit Pistons’ Griffin

Looking at the other side, there are advantages for the Detroit Pistons to keep Griffin around until the end of his contract two years from now.

As the Pistons will be looking to stockpile young talent over the next few seasons, Griffin represents a veteran presence that any young player would be lucky to learn from. Also, Griffin and Derrick Rose are the only marketable players the Pistons have left, especially if free agent Christian Wood takes his talents elsewhere this offseason.

So, while his value may be the lowest it’s ever been in his career, don’t be surprised if a team to takes a chance on Griffin. One year ago, no one would have thought there would be any sort of market for Chris Paul with his contract situation. Yet, one great season in Oklahoma City has set Paul up to almost certainly be dealt to a contender in the coming months.

As the NBA is finally becoming more saturated with contending teams, watch out for some bold moves this offseason.

Next. The Detroit Pistons have optionality with Thon Maker. dark

As for the Pistons, they should be looking for any way to add youthful talent to a roster that is starving for it. If that means parting ways with their best player, no hard feelings. Business is business, and Griffin knows that all too well.
