player. 170. . PG . Charlotte Hornets. LaMelo Ball . 3

This wouldn’t quite be a nightmare scenario for the Charlotte Hornets, but it certainly isn’t ideal. Wiseman is easily going to be their top priority on draft night, and Edwards could be an easy failsafe. Instead, they’ll have to settle for the player who’s best available.

In this case, that may not be such a bad thing.

LaMelo Ball would be an incredibly interesting fit with the Hornets. One of the worries about drafting him is his erratic shot selection, so if he’s put in a situation where that’s able to be closely monitored and even controlled, he’s going to get better a lot faster.

In this case however, that may not happen given the instability of Charlotte’s offensive production.

He’s one of best passers in the draft, and if he’s put in a situation where he actually has offensive weapons around him, he can prioritize his facilitating instead of his shooting.

One of the more important factors of any team inside the top ten hoping to land Ball is that he’d be an immediate draw for fans. Although arenas won’t be allowed to fill at max capacity at the season restart, ticket sales certainly won’t be an issue.

Defensively people wonder how he’ll fair, with some citing his height as a reason he’ll be able to hold his own. The reality is that he becomes unfocused far too often, and it causes him to get sloppy.

The Hornets need all the help they can get, and Ball could provide the jumpstart that they need.
