Detroit Pistons: Predicting the 5 most Impactful players
3. Derrick Rose
It wouldn’t be a normal season for Derrick Rose with the Detroit Pistons if he didn’t have something to prove.
Rose steps into the final year of his deal with Detroit commanding high trade value thanks to his fine play and being on an inexpensive, expiring contract. His playmaking ability in a backup role could be a huge get for a contender, looking for a final piece to make a run for a championship.
However, while he is here in Detroit, the veteran point guard will still be one of the most productive players on the roster (again, assuming no health issue). Rose had one of the best seasons of his career last year, averaging the most points per game (18.1) since his MVP days in Chicago.
Being one of the most selfless stars the league has ever seen, Rose will play an important role (much like Griffin) in helping the young core develop, particularly rookie Killian Hayes.
It’s unclear on whether Dwane Casey will look to start Rose full-time, considering the minute restriction he’s been on since arriving in Detroit due to past knee surgeries. What is clear, is Rose’s production last season was pretty incredible considering he only averaged 26 minutes per game.
