Best SG Option: Svi Mykhailiuk

Dwayne Casey has been using an 11-12 man rotation so far in the preseason, but that will shrink down as the regular season gets underway.

In the two games versus the Knicks, Svi  has played only 16 minutes in one game and 8 minutes in the other.

He has made the most of these minutes and still looks to be the best shooter on the team.

In the traditional sense, he is the most pure option at the shooting guard position on the roster. In 22 minutes per game last season, he was one of the leagues most accurate three point shooters (40 percent on 5 attempts per game).

Starting 27 games for the team last season, Svi averaged 9 points per game and almost 2 assists per game.

Although these numbers don’t jump off the page, these would all take a considerable leap if given the right opportunity alongside Killian Hayes.

He should attempt at least few more threes per game if the team plays with more pace and Hayes creates open shots like he’s expected to do.

At 6’7″, he would give the team decent length in the starting lineup and defense shouldn’t be an issue with both Hayes and Grant assisting on the perimeter.

With the team showcasing such confidence in Hayes as a playmaker, Svi provides the the perfect combo of spot up shooting ability and movement off the ball.

Many have been intrigued by Svi’s ceiling at the position.  There may never be a better opportunity for him to realize that potential.
