Detroit Pistons: Killian Hayes isn’t the only young player

Reason #2: It’s not all about Killian Hayes

When Hayes went down with an injury it was pretty depressing.

It’s already hard enough to follow a rebuilding team without the cornerstone of that rebuild suffering a devastating injury that could threaten his career.

But the Detroit Pistons have a lot of exciting young players, including a few that fit the mold of the hard-nosed Pistons we all love.

If you aren’t 100 percent in on Isaiah “Beef Stew” Stewart after he stared down Giannis Antetokounmpo the other night, then you probably didn’t grow up watching the Bad Boys.

But Stewart isn’t all about antics, he is second among rookies in rebounding and fourth in blocks, showing a little Ben Wallace DNA in the process. Stewart can defend and will be part of this core moving forward.

Svi Mykhailiuk is starting to come on after a slow start and will get more minutes and touches. Deividas Sirvydis will eventually get some run off the bench and even newly-acquired point guard Frank Jackson could be a player in the future.

The point is that there are plenty of young guys other than Hayes who could be impact players on this team.

And I didn’t even get to the guy who looks like a candidate for Rookie of the Year.
