Detroit Pistons: Saddiq Bey was the steal of the draft
Saddiq Bey’s ROY campaign
It’s not too soon to say that the Detroit Pistons got the steal of the draft when they chose Saddiq Bey with the 19th pick.
Some fans were angry that the Pistons had to trade Luke Kennard and four 2nd-round picks to do it, but Bey is already better than Kennard and will just keep getting better.
Currently, Bey is 5th among rookies in points, 4th in rebounds. He is 7th in 3-point percentage and has taken more of them than any rookie by far. He’s also played fewer minutes than most of the rookies at the top of various statistical categories.
That needs to change, especially after his big night against the Bucks.
Bey has flashed elite defensive capabilities and the Pistons’ defense is far worse when he is not on the floor.
He and Jerami Grant have really been the highlights of the season and if Bey continues to get more playing time, he has a shot at Rookie of the Year.
The Detroit Pistons aren’t very good right now but there are still plenty of reasons to watch.
