The Miami Heat are shorthanded, which could lead to some fun matchups vs. the Detroit Pistons.

The Detroit Pistons will look to get back into the win column against a Miami Heat team that will be missing most of its players.

The Heat will have at least nine guys out for the game against the Pistons, and possibly as many as 11, which begs the question how they even have enough players to compete.

If the game is not postponed, we are going to see some interesting matchups with Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and Goran Dragic out with Tyler Herro and backup point guard Gabe Vincent possibly out as well.

This could be a good chance for the Detroit Pistons to get their young players some run against guys who are their own age and experience level, which is a great way to build up confidence.

Here are three matchups I look forward to watching:

Detroit Pistons: What will the starting lineups be against the Heat?

With so many players out, the Heat had to start two rookies and two second-year players in their last game against the 76ers. Could the Pistons’ youngsters see more minutes against the depleted Heat?

Isaiah Stewart vs. Precious Achiuwa

One of the early draft debates is who got the better player, the Pistons or the Heat. Both Isaiah Stewart and Precious Achiuwa have shown flashes early on, though Achiuwa is playing more minutes on a much better team.

They are both guys who will rely on defense and rebounding to make their mark in the league and it should be fun to see them go head-to-head, as both are high energy guys who get after it on defense.

Beef Stew vs. Precious is a matchup I look forward to seeing.

Saddiq Bey vs. Tyler Herro

If Tyler Herro does end up playing, Saddiq Bey will be licking his chops for a chance to try and shut him down on one end and dominate him on the other.

Bey has been one of the steals of the draft so far, hitting more than 45 percent of his 3-point shots and playing solid defense.

I want to see Bey in Herro’s grill all night, making things difficult for him and using his superior athleticism to push him around and keep him from getting to his spots.

Sekou Doumbouya vs…… Anyone

Sekou Doumbouya took a DNP in the last game, which is not great considering he is meant to be one of the cornerstones of the rebuild.

I am happy to be patient with Doumbouya, as we knew he was a project, but Dwane Casey should be looking to get him into games like this, in which the Pistons are playing a team that will be showcasing young players.

It would be nice to see Sekou get some run in this one, even if it is only for ten minutes.

The Miami Heat will barely have a team against the Detroit Pistons tonight, so it is a good chance to see what the young guys can do against their peers.
