Detroit Pistons: The Pistons need more 3-point shooting

Shooters

The Miami Heat showed just how important shooting can be in last year’s run to the Finals.

The Heat were one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the NBA and rode the hot hands of Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson once they got to the playoffs.

The Heat’s spacing on offense was a thing of beauty, which opened up lanes for Jimmy Butler to penetrate and for Adebayo to grab offensive rebounds.

This is one area of the roster that Detroit needs some improvement if they want to emulate Miami.

Detroit is lacking 3-point shooters, though they may have one in Svi Mykhailiuk. Mykhailiuk looks like that guy at times and is a 37.5 percent 3-point shooter for his career.

Jerami Grant (and hopefully Killian Hayes in the future) can get into the lane but right now he doesn’t have many guys to kick out to, as Detroit is currently 22nd in the NBA in 3-point percentage.

I’m sure Troy Weaver is well aware and will be looking to add shooting in the future.

The Detroit Pistons have a long way to go to get to where the Heat are as a franchise, but they have a good start and it finally looks like they have the guys to finish the job.
