Introducing newest Detroit Piston:  Dennis Smith Jr

For those who are not yet familiar with the Pistons new point guard acquisition, Dennis Smith Jr is a supremely athletic and supremely talented guard out of North Carolina State,  who has so far struggled to find his footing in the league after five full seasons.

He entered the league offering all sorts of promise to the Dallas Mavericks, where he averaged 15 points and 5 assists in roughly 30 minutes per game his rookie season.

This would be his strongest campaign to date as his games played per year steadily declined from season to season. So far. in this relatively young NBA season, he has been basically a benchwarmer.  Smith has been averaging three points, one steal and one assist in just three games played.

The Knicks are a roster loaded with floor generals. While Smith was on the Knicks roster, they also had Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett, Frank Ntilikina, Austin Rivers, and Elfrid Payton. With such a loaded back court, Smith struggled to carve out minutes and find his role.
