Detroit Pistons: Isaiah Stewart vs. Zion Williamson

Woah.

When these two clash in the lane it will be like a natural disaster, as both are big, strong and like to play physical basketball in the paint.

Zion Williamson has been on an absolute tear lately, culminating in his last game against the Mavericks where he scored 36 points on 14-of-15 shooting.

If Beef Stew allows Zion to get into the lane, it will likely happen again, so trying to keep him out of the paint will be crucial. This is not an easy task and one that no one in the NBA has figured out thus far, so Stewart has a big challenge.

This is especially true because the Pistons are missing two of their centers in Mason Plumlee and Jahlil Okafor, which will make Stewart’s task even tougher.

However, Zion Williamson is not a good defender yet, so the Pistons might be able to take advantage of him on that end, especially if Beef Stew runs the floor hard and makes Zion chase him around.

The only real way to stop Williamson is to get him into foul trouble, as he can’t dunk at will from the bench.

But Stewart will have to be careful not to get into foul trouble himself, something he has not been able to do in most games.

It will take a team effort to slow Zion Williamson, but the one-on-one matchup with Stewart will be fun to watch.

The Detroit Pistons aren’t playing a title contender, so they will probably lose, but these will be interesting matchups either way.
