The Detroit Pistons are not good but there are still compelling reasons to watch them vs. the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Pistons are coming off the ultimate tank game against the Bulls, where they blew a 25-point first half lead and a 43-point outing by Jerami Grant before finally losing the game by three points.
If the Pistons weren’t hoping for a top pick, that would have been a heartbreaker, but this season wins are not necessarily the most important thing.
With Derrick Rose traded and Blake Griffin glued to the bench for the time being, the Detroit Pistons should be fun to watch, even if they aren’t racking up the wins, as they are getting big minutes and contributions from their young players.
That is the theme heading into Memphis, where the Detroit Pistons will continue to grind it out against the Grizzlies.
Here are three things to look for in the game.
Detroit Pistons: Jerami Grant’s case for the All-Star team
Jerami Grant’s case for making the All-Star team is a tough one. Even though he is having a spectacular season and is the frontrunner for Most Improved Player, he has some stiff competition.
Grant could still make the team as a reserve or wild card player, and if he doesn’t, the chip on his shoulder will get even bigger.
Will we see some more 40+ point outings from Jerami Grant? The Memphis Grizzlies do not play much defense, so it’s possible Grant could bolster his case for the All-Star team by dropping another huge stat line in Memphis.
He still has time to turn some heads, so Grant should be motivated to put up some huge numbers against Memphis.
