Detroit Pistons: Tyrese Haliburton vs. 3 young point guards

One of the bright spots of the Kings’ season has been the play of rookie point guard Tyrese Haliburton, who is one of the frontrunners for Rookie of the Year.

The Pistons are also getting contributions from a rookie point guard, though not the one they expected.

With rookie Killian Hayes out for the season and Delon Wright currently nursing an injury, the Pistons have turned to retread Dennis Smith Jr. and 2nd-round pick Saben Lee at point guard and the results have been encouraging.

Saben Lee has been particularly good, flashing exciting athleticism, the ability to get into the lane to set up teammates and a better-than-advertised long-range shot.

Same with Smith Jr. who hasn’t shot the ball well but has been very good defensively as he tries to work himself back into game shape after spending most of the season on the Knicks’ bench.

It would have been nice to see Hayes vs. Haliburton, as Pistons’ fans have been questioning their team’s choice since the Pistons passed on Haliburton to draft Hayes number seven overall.

Haliburton has been very good, averaging 13.2 points, 5.4 assists and 3.6 rebounds for the Kings, so this will be a guy Pistons’ fans will always keep an eye on until Hayes proves he is better (if that ever happens).

Until then we will have to settle for Haliburton vs. Committee, which should be a fun matchup to watch tonight.
