Detroit Pistons: Battle of the trade bait shooters

Both Buddy Hield and Wayne Ellington are shooters that are probably not part of their team’s long-term plans, which makes them trade bait at the deadline.

After starting the season red-hot, Ellington has come back to Earth and the Pistons may have missed their chance to maximize his value while he was leading the league in 3-point percentage.

They aren’t likely to get much more than a 2nd-round pick for him but Ellington will almost certainly be moved before the deadline.

Same with Hield, who has long complained about his role in Sacramento and is one of those guys who believes he is much better than he really is.

But with a glut of guards on the roster, he is the most likely to be moved at the deadline, so it will be interesting to see if either of these guys steps up and starts making some shots to improve the chance.

The Detroit Pistons vs. Sacramento Kings is definitely not “must-see” TV unless you are into young players, tanking teams and future team building, in which case it should be on prime time.

Let’s hope the Pistons can find a way to lose this one and not hurt their chances at a top pick in the NBA Draft.
