The Detroit Pistons are headed towards a top pick, so though we are only nearing the midpoint of the season, it’s never to early to predict who they might get. We did a way-too-early mock draft of the lottery if the season were to end today.

Obviously, there is still plenty of time for things to change. Some of these teams will play their way out of the lottery while others will surely tank their way in, but it appears that the bottom 3-4 teams are pretty much locked into being terrible.

To be fair, I only spun the lottery simulator one time and the Detroit Pistons did not get the number one pick, which would be disappointing but something we need to prepare for, as even if they are in the bottom three, they still only have a 14 percent chance of getting the number one overall.

The way Cade Cunningham is playing right now, every team in the NBA would like to add him to the roster and he is separating himself from the pack.

Just because the Detroit Pistons don’t get the number one pick doesn’t mean they won’t end up with Cunningham, as they could certainly trade up depending on who does end up with that coveted pick.

Here is our first, way-to-early-you-idiot mock draft of the season.

In our first simulation the Houston Rockets jumped up to the number one spot which would be typical.

Of course a team that has no state-income tax, can draw free agents and has been bad for exactly one season deserves this. Ugh.

Right now Cunningham is looking like the pick no matter who gets it, as he has the size and skill to dominate on both ends of the floor.
