Detroit Pistons: Possible trade of Wayne Ellington to the Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks are surging after a terrible start and will probably end up back in the playoff picture sooner rather than later.

They too need some 3-point shooting around superstar Luka Doncic, as they are just 22nd overall from behind the arc and would love to open up some space for their young point guard to go to work in the lane where he is most effective.

The Mavericks are unlikely to move off any of their promising young players or recent draft picks, so the Pistons could target a project player and a second-round pick from the Mavs.

Iwundu is a former 2nd-round pick who doesn’t play much and since he has an extra year on his minimum deal, the Mavericks would have to kick in a second-round pick to make it worth the Pistons’ time.

Iwundu is a 6-foot-6 wing, so might be worth  flyer for the Pistons, who would also like to hoard as many draft picks as possible as they try to rebuild.

Neither of these trades are blockbusters but give you some idea of what the Detroit Pistons might get if they trade Wayne Ellington by himself and not as part of a package.

As the deadline approaches, the Pistons are going to get calls about Wayne Ellington and need to sniff out the best deals vis-a-vis project players and picks.
