The Detroit Pistons will take on the Brooklyn Nets in a battle of two teams headed in opposite directions.

The Nets are a title contender and will be fine-tuning their roster before the trade deadline in an effort to finally bring a title to New York.

The Detroit Pistons are tanking away, hoping to land a top pick and find a transformative talent to add to their ever-improving young core of players.

The Nets are just a half game out of the first seed in the East while the Pistons are alone in dead last, hopping to stay in the bottom three so that they have maximum odds at the number one overall pick or at least to stay in the top-four

But the Detroit Pistons are not going to lay down for anyone, which is why this will likely be another competitive game even if the result is the same in the loss column.

Here are three things to watch when the Detroit Pistons play the Brooklyn Nets.

Detroit Pistons: Will Blake Griffin make his debut?

Blake Griffin has yet to make his debut for the Brooklyn Nets since being bought out by the Pistons and joining the Nets as a free agent.

He is still listed as day-to-day on the injury report but Griffin has already said that he is not injured but needs to work himself back into basketball shape after spending several weeks on the bench.

Pistons’ fans are wondering if he was ever in basketball shape this season, as he was absolutely terrible for Detroit and looked like a guy who doesn’t really belong in the league.

It will be interesting to see if Griffin finally finds another gear now that he is on a winning team. He left the Pistons under fairly good circumstances but if he suddenly starts dunking the ball and playing defense we are going to wonder if he was dogging it just to get out of Detroit.

I don’t think that is the case and I don’t think Blake Griffin will be good for the Nets but we might get our first glimpse of him against his former team.
