Potential Pistons draft picks: Herbert Jones and John Petty

Both of these players fall into the category of older guys who might be able to play right away, though both have fairly low ceilings.

John Petty: Petty is a 6-foot-5 senior shooting guard so will be one of the older players in the draft. His numbers are not going to jump out at you, but he is solid in nearly every facet of the game. He is a pretty good high volume 3-point shooter and can defend, so he might be able to make a roster as a 3-and-D wing.

His age and turnovers will probably keep him out of the first round but he should be there when the Pistons pick in the second.

Herbert Jones: Jones is a long wing who can defend and shoot the 3-point shot, so he has a good chance of making an NBA roster even though he is a senior. Not many seniors get drafted but he has the defensive chops to help someone right away, so Jones will get a look.

He also has problems with his handles and turns the ball over too much, but at 6-foot-8, he has good size for a wing and has knocked down 44 percent of his 3-point shots, though on a very low volume.

If he shows he can hit the NBA 3-pointer consistently then he might have a place in the NBA, as he has the size and skill to be a defender.
