The Detroit Pistons will soon be awash in point guards with the return of Killian Hayes. Could Delon Wright be the odd man out and get traded?

There has been lots of good news on the Killian Hayes front. According to coach Dwane Casey, he has started to shoot around at the practice facility. The No. 7 overall NBA draft pick even accompanied the team when the Pistons played at Charlotte on March 11.

If he was going to be out for a long period of time, no reason to put a guy with a bad hip on an airplane and have him walk through an arena.

Hayes suffered a labral tear in his left hip against the Milwaukee Bucks on January 4. The team announced on January 20, that Hayes would not need surgery, and would re-evaluated in eight weeks.

The eight-week mark is fast approaching.

Now, to expect Hayes to immediately go back to the starting point guard position that he held for the first seven games, and play 25-30 minutes a game is unreasonable. He has to scrape 2 1/2 months of rust off and get back in playing shape.

But, make no mistake about it, when Hayes is ready, he will play. Whether it is as a starter or coming off the bench, Hayes will be seeing plenty of time on the court.
