Something had to give last night when the Detroit Pistons took on the Toronto Raptors, as both teams came into the game riding losing streaks.

It was the Pistons who prevailed behind a huge night from Saddiq Bey to give Detroit their second win in a row over the reeling Raptors who have now lost six straight.

Detroit is still tanking so every win is a potential problem, but they also own a second-round pick from Toronto in the upcoming draft so if they are going to win one, winning against the Raptors is a good choice.

Detroit just keeps doing what they’ve been doing all season, which is playing tough, competitive games with big contributions from their rookies and young players.

There were three big standouts from the game, but none bigger than Bey, who continues to be one of the most impressive rookies in the NBA and has cemented himself as one of the steals of the 2020 NBA Draft.

Here are three takeaways from the Detroit Pistons’ 11th win of the season, staring with Bey.

Detroit Pistons: Saddiq Bey is making history

Saddiq Bey is not going to win Rookie of the Year but he might end up in the history books anyway.

Bey is on a record-pace for 3-pointers made by a rookie and now has 88 made through his first 40 games, which is 5th in NBA history.

He hit six more of them against Toronto and is now shooting 40 percent for the season which is 5th among rookies though he leads the group in attempts.

Bey is top-ten in points and rebounds for rookies and is second in free-throw percentage as well.

He is having a special season that should end in a top-five Rookie of the Year finish for Bey, who was the 19th pick in they 2020 Draft.
