Detroit Pistons: Delon Wright might be a keeper

We’ve talked a lot about whether Delon Wright will be traded at the deadline.

He has been a nice surprise this season and some fans think the Pistons should sell high and try to get a first-round draft pick for him.

I can certainly see this point of view, but there is also a solid argument that a guy on a team-friendly contract who produces is exactly what a rebuilding team needs.

People were quick to hand the keys over to Dennis Smith Jr. and Saben Lee but both have been inconsistent and still need a lot of work before they are solid NBA rotation players.

Wright is there now and showed it again last night, filling up the stat sheet with 18 points, ten rebounds and eight assists which he’s been doing all season.

He is only making $8.5 million next season, which is a bargain for a guy who produces. Do I think Delon Wright is the starter of the future? No, I do not, but he is a solid backup and a guy who plays hard every night.

If the Detroit Pistons decide to trade him and can get an asset, so be it, but I am also happy with them keeping Wright as a veteran backup, as he is cheap, produces and takes the pressure off the Detroit Pistons young point guards.
