Possible Detroit Pistons draft picks: Florida State vs. Colorado

Prospects to watch: Scottie Barnes (Florida St.) and McKinley Wright IV (COL)

If the Pistons were to drop out of the top five, Scottie Barnes is one of my favorite guys in this year’s draft.

He is the type of player who can help a team in a number of ways and his versatility has already drawn comparisons to Draymond Green. Barnes is a better athlete than Green and can already do more on the offensive end than Green could in college, so he could end up being a very good player in the NBA.

I love his toughness and motor and if the Detroit Pistons happen to fall in the draft, he will be a guy they take a hard look at, as he fits Troy Weaver’s culture and could end up being one of the most underrated guys this year.

McKinley Wright IV is a senior point guard out of Colorado who will likely be a second-rounder or possibly invited to someone’s Summer League as an undrafted free agent. He is a six-foot point guard, which will make it difficult for him to succeed in the NBA, especially considering he is not a lights-out shooter from 3-point range.

But he is strong and he is tough, so I wouldn’t count him out, though I would imagine a career in the G-League or maybe overseas might be more likely than a long career in the NBA.
